About
Built by an operator who was on the other side of this first.
Frontier Data Supply is operated by 13101959 Canada Inc. carrying on business as Frontier Data Supply, in Ontario, Canada. Matthew Sefati runs it.
Why this exists
It started from the supplier's chair. Companies Matthew runs were approached by data programmes wanting to licence their operating records, and going through that process from the inside made two things obvious.
The first was that the asset is real. Years of mail, documents, tickets, schemas and ledgers from a company that genuinely operates is the one kind of data a lab cannot scrape, cannot synthesise convincingly, and increasingly needs.
The second was that the chain between the company and the lab is longer than it needs to be. The intermediary buys the record, packages it, and licenses it onward, often perpetually and often with no further payment to the company that generated it. The margin is real and it sits with the party doing the least irreplaceable work.
So we took the other role. We hold the rights, we do the de-identification and the engineering, we sign the licence and carry the warranties, and the company that made the data keeps the majority of what it earns, on every licence, not just the first.
What we are careful about
Taking custody means taking obligations, and a company in this position that is vague about them should worry you. That is why the trust page names the internal document behind every claim, why the de-identification standard is published rather than described, and why a corpus with an incomplete rights record does not ship regardless of what is waiting on it.
We also did this to our own company first, which is the only reason we know how long the unglamorous parts take.
